A speedy grocery delivery service can be hard to find these days, that is, unless you live next door to a golden retriever.

Karen Eveleth, who lives in Colorado in the United States, has trained her golden retriever Sundance to deliver groceries to their elderly neighbour Renee Hellman, who suffers from a heart condition and respiratory illness and is not permitted to leave the house.

Sundance heads over in the morning to pick up a grocery list from Renee. After Karen completes the shopping, Sundance takes the items next door, holding the bags in his mouth.

Sunny makes trips back and forth throughout the week, sometimes delivering home-cooked meals, even taking the containers back to be washed.

If that doesn’t want to make you want to give Sunny a big old belly rub, the dog also gets the mail for its owner and picks up rubbish on its morning walks.

The neighbours will continue to use their unique delivery system until Hellman feels it is safe enough for her out to venture outside again.

“Karen’s a great neighbor, she watches out for me,” Hellman said. “Little things like Sunny coming over to visit is nice, and it makes you feel good. It’s a way of communicating.”
