If you’ve forgotten just how good dining out can be, a window table at Iceberg’s will remind you.

Icebergs Dining Room & Bar at Bondi Beach is coming out of hibernation with a new program of culinary events, designed to coax Sydneysiders from the couch.

The new series will kick off with a “best of” menu that celebrates the greatest hits of Icebergs, followed by a number of high profile collaborations and pop-up dinners.

It’s all part of their new campaign “It Doesn’t Taste Like This At Home”, which celebrates the return of restaurants while reminding diners of the important social and cultural role that hospitality venues play in their lives.

Maurice Terzini

“People have got used to eating really well at home,” says Icebergs Dining Room restaurateur Maurice Terzini. “The quality of takeaway products has gone through the roof which has changed the takeaway landscape, which is great. It’s become another revenue stream for restaurants.”

However, it doesn’t replace dining out, Terzini said. “People get married in restaurants, they get divorced, engaged, they do business, they fight, they party. Restaurants provide social and community engagement, and no matter how hard you try, you just cannot recreate that at home.”

Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, Bondi

From August 1, Icebergs Dining Room & Bar will reopen with a greatest hits menu that includes favourites like the Icebergs beef tartare, mixed tableside, and Pavlova made with Malfroy’s honey and mandarin and Burraduc buffalo milk. If you really want to make it a night to remember, there’s also caviar on buckwheat blinis with crème fraîche and wax leaf, black truffle shavings optional.

This will be followed by a series of collaborations, starting with a Kisumé pop-up dinner, with more events to be announced shortly.
