Spoons at the ready: A plant-based Milo has hit supermarket shelves

Nestle plant based Milo

Put down the cacao.

Nestle has just released a plant-based Milo so vegans can know the simple joys of an overloaded choc malt shake.

Spotted in supermarkets this week, the new plant-based product swaps out the milk powder for soy protein isolate and soluble corn fibre, and apparently, it tastes just as good as the original.

Worrying, a misprint in the directions encourages users to combine 3 heaped teaspoons of Milo with a glass of soy milk, when in fact, everyone knows that Milo must be made using a minimum of 6 heaped tablespoons – an egregious error indeed.

The new plant-based Milo follows on from the 30% Less Added Sugar Milo that launched last year. The new tin will retail for the same price as the original – $7 per 395g tin – from all major supermarkets.
