Date night, sorted.

The NSW Government will give out $100 to every adult in the state to spend on dining and entertainment, in a bid to revive the Covid crippled economy.

As part of the government’s new Out and About scheme, everyone over the age of 18 will receive four $25 vouchers through the Service NSW app.

Two vouchers can be used for food at restaurants and cafes, while the remaining two can be used for entertainment, and can be spent at cinemas, galleries, museums and amusement parks.

There are, of course, caveats. The vouchers must be used separately, and cannot be combined. Vouchers can only be used once, so if the spend is less than $25, the remaining balance is forfeited. Also, they cannot be used to purchase alcohol or for gambling or cigarettes.

Businesses must also register with the Out and About scheme, and only Covid-safe venues can participate.

“We want to encourage people to open up their wallets and contribute to the stimulus effect,” Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said.

“The dining and entertainment industries were among the hardest hit by the pandemic and I would encourage people to utilise this scheme once it is up and running and to make sure they spend a bit extra on the way through, too.”

The program will be trialled in December, before rolling out across the state in early 2021.
