Dining out may be over but you can still order in.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that restaurants, cafes and bars and other “non-essential” services will shutdown in NSW and VIC from Monday, March 23 at midday.
While hospitality venues won’t be able to accommodate dine-in, they can still offer takeaway and delivery.
“We don’t have any confidence that people would refrain from gathering in those ways, in those pubs, clubs and nightclubs,” Scott Morrison said at a press conference.
“Unfortunately, because guidelines can’t be followed, then for public health reasons we now need to take further action which shuts those gatherings down.”
Supermarkets, petrol stations, pharmacies, convenience stores, and home food delivery have been named as “essential services” and will remain open.
