ICYMI: The third best tube-shaped snack is making a comeback

Tasty Toobs

Totally toobular.

After Cheezels and Burger Rings, there’s no denying Tasty Toobs are one of the greatest tube-shaped snacks of all time.

Following a dedicated campaign by Toob enthoosiasts, Smiths has announced plans to bring back the tangy tomato-flavoured chip for the second time.

Tasty Toobs were first invented in 1954 before climbing to peak popularity in the 1970s. Since then, it’s been one long tunnel slide downhill, until they were finally discontinued in 2001. There was a brief Toob resurgence in 2007 before they were axed again in 2015, leaving a ring-shaped hole in hearts and stomachs everywhere.

Vandita Pandey, CMO of PepsiCo ANZ told news.com.au: “It’s safe to say that we have been overwhelmed by the level of support amongst you guys for the return of Tasty Toobs.

“And it’s no surprise to us that Aussies have rated Tasty Toobs the number one product they most want back on supermarket shelves.

“And we’ve been working on it for a while now and there have certainly been some challenges.

“But thanks to your passion and persistence, we’re really excited to let you know that we’re bringing back Toobs.”
While an exact date hasn’t been announced just yet, Tasty Toobs could be back on supermarket shelves from as early as next month.
