Join the flock of foodies at Herald Sun House.
For guests looking for a place to kick off their heels this Melbourne Cup, delicious. has partnered with the Three Blue Ducks to bring their laidback, beachside café to News Corp’s Birdcage marquee, Herald Sun House.
Staffed by none other than owners, Mark LaBrooy and Darren Robertson, the pop-up café will seat just eight guests at a time, serving an edited menu that includes smoked rainbow trout with potato rosti, a flat iron steak burger, and an asparagus, broad bean and toasted sesame salad, all prepared fresh to order.
After a ‘mandatory’ glass of Mumm Cordon Rouge Champagne, punters can wave down one of the roving waiters, for a limoncello spitz or better yet, one of the beer and cheese pairings. Guests will also be able to take a punt at the Jack of Spades Porter, which brings out the beautiful, smoky ham aromas and rich, matured flavours of a Stokes Point Smoked Cheddar.
For something more substantial, there will also be canapés and grazing platters doing the rounds. Channelling the sporty-luxe themed marquee, the menu will offer an upscale take on game day favourites, from Peking duck pie with pickled cucumber and waffles with maple bacon ice cream, which can be paired with beer, wine or a club cocktail.
