What’s better than yuzu cocktails at Tokyo Bird? Free edamame and yuzu cocktails at Tokyo Bird.
Since it opened in 2014, Tokyo Bird has grown a loyal fanbase for its yakitori, impressive whisky collection and intimate back-alley-bar vibe.
And regardless of whether you order a Cool AF cocktail or not (a Spritzy mix of Suntory’s Roku gin, yellow Chartreuse, Suze, yuzu and cucumber – spoiler alert: you should), it’s the kind of place you could easily whittle away the entire night in.
Now, for the month of March as part of the inaugural American Express delicious. Month Out, the Tokyo-inspired small bar is offering a complimentary plate of edamame or lotus root chips when you order any two drinks.
The chips come with a spiced-up kewpie mayo you’ll want to dip everything in, while the edamame options include classic sea salt, or a dusting of seven-chilli seasoning, shichi-mi tōgarashi.
With the snacks taken care off, you’ll have more time to deliberate on which of the dozen-plus different skewers you’re going to order.
Our vote? The kawa, crisp and salty chicken skin with Sancho pepper, and the hatsu, chicken hearts with classic tare and lemon. Don’t leave without digging into the epic whisky stash, too. They have one of the biggest collections of Japanese whisky in Australia.
