Brews with a view.
If you’re looking for a new rooftop haunt to add to your hit list, Darlinghurst pub The Taphouse has just relaunched its rooftop space as a lush alfresco bar.
Work your way up the seemingly endless staircase and be rewarded with a leafy oasis, complete with a scenic outlook across Centennial Parklands and Darlo’s treetops.
The hotel’s top-level has been given a completely new look, which includes climbing ivy wall vines, festoon lighting and a new curved concrete bar, not to mention, a wide expanse of blue sky, which is protected by a retractable roof, should things turn grey.

The Taphouse may be known for its impressive selection of craft beers (fun fact: they serve over 400 different craft beers annually) but there’s more to Elm than just the brewskies. Take in the scenery with a watermelon margarita in hand, or try the house bloody Mary, made from freshly-squeezed tomato juice and a basil-infused vodka. There’s also 9 hard seltzers on tap (hello Strawbs & Cream!) and a tight edit of wines by the glass and bottle, with all the main varietals ticked off.
If you did come for the beer, you won’t be disappointed. The drinks list includes over 20 craft beers on tap, with a focus on local indie labels.

No need to head out for dinner after, there’s snacks and share plates for a quick bite, as well as more substantial plates for a proper meal. Top orders include the crumbed jalapeño poppers with blue cheese filling, the fish tacos with spicy tartare and the steak ‘sambos’.
