Craft rum aficionados and urban pirates can now swig their favourite sugarcane spirit at a new dedicated rum bar.

If you haven’t already stopped by for party provisions, the JimmyRum Bar and Distillery is located in Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula, within an impressive 500m² converted industrial shed.

Inside, you’ll find a rustic drinking hall where a well-stocked rum bar meets barrels, stills and distilling equipment, setting the scene for a solid afternoon of swilling. Snare one of the comfy couches or head outside to the pergola, where the fresh sea breeze will take you straight to Barbados.

The distillery makes four types of rum.

The distillery is currently producing four types of craft rum – Barbados, Silver, Oaked and Navy – which you can try at the bar, either straight over hand-carved ice or shaken up into cocktails. The list includes daiquiris, mojitos, and even an espresso rumtini.

But first, you might want to line your stomach with a cheese and meat board, or a toastie with crisps. Swing by Saturday, when a rotating roster of food trucks and live music turns the shed into an old-fashioned shindig.
