Merivale cements its Sydney empire with Marrickville

Vic on the Park

An unexpected pub purchase confirms the hospitality group is moving west.

Merivale’s empire looks like it is only set to grow with the news that the hospitality giant has made a new purchase in Sydney’s inner-west. Marrickville’s The Vic on the Park is the latest addition to the company’s booming property portfolio.

While a little rough around the edges, the drinking spot is a beloved part of Sydney’s inner-west community, and is Merivale’s second property purchase in the district, following the Queens Hotel on Enmore Road.

It’s The Vic’s strong community presence that drew Merivale to the purchase in the first place. “The Vic has long been at the heart of Marrickville, a vibrant community hub where people of all ages and walks of life can come together,” says Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes. “We have loved being part of the Inner West since opening Queens last year and can’t wait to take on what is undoubtedly an important and cherished venue in the area”.

The keys for the Vic on the Park will be handed over to Merivale group on November 13. Locals are encouraged not to panic, as there are no immediate plans to make any major refurbishment changes as of yet. The pub is promised to trade as normal for the foreseeable future, with only a revamp of the food offerings on the cards for now.
