Bondi brunch favourite Porch & Parlour reopens today

Porch & Parlour

Even a fire can't stop the Eastern Suburbs coffee spot.

Even a blaze isn’t enough to stop the brunch machine that is Bondi’s Porch & Parlour. The popular North Bondi establishment was destroyed by fire last August but will reopen today, January 4, to show off its new look to locals.

The rebuild will see Porch welcome a new bar, kitchen, and interiors. Artworks by artists (and fellow locals) Vicki Lee and Ted O’Donnell adorn the walls, a teak blue San Remo opera coffee machine sits front and centre, and there’s now a retail area for fans of the venue to take home a souvenir.

The menu has also been refreshed; Porch’s favourites remain including the green pea pancake now joined by a slew of summer-themed additions. A new happy hour has also been welcomed, which offers sundowner cocktails from 4.00-8.00pm Friday through Sunday.

Owners Sarah Hendriks, Sam Smith and Alex Relic are excited to welcome the new incarnation of Porch & Parlour.  “We missed our space and supporting the daily swim/coffee ritual, but what we missed more than anything was the people who make up the Porch community,’’ says Sarah. “Our team, our customers and visitors – we missed the people. And now we can’t wait to swing the doors back open.’’

Sam agrees: “While the rebuilding has been going on, we have had a chance to reflect on important aspects of our business and the kind of experience we want people to have when they visit. Places like Porch are really important community builders. A lot of sharing and important connections are made over that coffee in the morning, or the drink in the late afternoon. We love serving great food in a beautiful environment, and we love being a part of something that enriches people’s lives.’’

Porch & Parlour will open from 6.30am-4.00pm Monday through Thursday, and 6.30am-8.00pm Friday through Sunday.
