King of the drip cake, Andy Bowdy opens second patisserie in Darling Square

The saga continues.

Creator of outrageously good cakes, Andy Bowdy has just launched a spin-off pâtisserie in the Exchange Building at Darling Square.

Called Saga Lyte, the new cake shop will sell the biggest hits from its sister venue, Saga in Enmore. That means, sticky buns, croissant scrolls, salted chocolate cookies, and a whole bunch of miniature mousse cakes covered in torched meringue with drippy fudge edges.

For the first time in three years, you’ll also be able to get your hands on Bowdy’s legendary Hartsyard sundae, the peanut butter and pretzel soft-serve that launched his career.

But before you start overloading on sweets, the menu will also include a few savoury items to get you started, from a braised steak and onion pie (with fillings changing regularly), to a pork and veal sausage roll and grilled mortadella sandwich with a sweet-sour agrodolce sauce.

The new venue, which is essentially just one big pastry counter, has landed in the Maker’s Dozen, a collective of 12 food venues housed within the Kengo Kuma-designed Exchange Building.
