4 Pines brewery heads south of the bridge with a new bar concept

The North Shore brewery is set to make its inner-city debut in Surry Hills.

Count yourself lucky beer drinkers of inner-city Sydney, for the district’s brew-favouring options have just grown. Namely 4 Pines Brewing Company has just wiggled its way south of the bridge, opening a beer and burger bar this past Thursday in Surry Hills.

4 Pines have already proclaimed this outlet to be their most unique offering, and while we’re not sure it’s a groundbreaking concept it is one we’re sure the 4 Pines team will excel at. Beer choices here will of course be ample; on tap will be Pale Ale, Kolsch, Pacific Ale, In Season IPA and a rotating small batch limited-edition Keller Door.

There will also be the Brookvale Union Ginger Beer, and five beers available by the bottle (Amber Ale, ESB, Summer Ale, Stout and Hefeweizen.) For non-beer fans there will be an array of predominantly Australian wines and spirits to tuck into, as well as a handful of cocktails.

To partner with the beers is a menu of six burgers, designed by 4 Pines Executive Chef Ed Sargent. There are classic options including The Cheese (beef patty, burger cheese, tomato, onion, butterleaf lettuce, signature burger sauce and pickles) as well as the more indulgent like The Chook (Cornflake-crunch buttermilk fried chicken thigh, chilli and peanut butter, pickled
cabbage and carrot and Sriracha). All are available with an optional side of chunky chips, and extra toppings of beef patties, panko IPA jalapenos, smoked bacon, and Mexican pork.

Moving to Surry Hills has been a long time coming explains Sargent. “Crown Street has always had a rich hospitality history and is home to a diverse and thriving local community. The southern end of the street has a strong community presence and we wanted to introduce a great beer bar with a simple but solid burger list – nothing fancy, just good beer and food. Plus, it will reduce the amount of hate-mail we receive for not having a 4 Pines venue this side of the bridge.”
