This new beer and burger concept will have you forget all about your diet.
Much loved Sydney brewery 4 Pines has finally made its way south of the bridge to the Eastern Suburbs for the first time, with the new venture opening its doors just prior to the arrival of the New Year. But the beer-based company won’t just be offering up a good brew or two at its new Surry Hills outpost, but rather introducing an entirely new drinking and dining concept for fans.

Specifically, 4 Pines Brewing Company has just introduced in the past week a beer and burger bar to bustling Crown Street. This is not the kind of venue that will help to maintain any health-based resolutions, but it is one that boasts a rather tasty menu. Of course beer choices here are ample; on tap is Pale Ale, Kolsch, Pacific Ale, In Season IPA and a rotating small batch limited-edition Keller Door.
This line-up will be joined by Brookvale Union Ginger Beer, and five beers available by the bottle (Amber Ale, ESB, Summer Ale, Stout and Hefeweizen.) For non-beer fans there will also be options, including an array of predominantly Australian wines and spirits, and a number of cocktails.

To nibble on alongside your beer of choice will be a selection of six burgers, designed by 4 Pines Executive Chef Ed Sargent. There are classic takes on the burger available, including The Cheese (beef patty, burger cheese, tomato, onion, butterleaf lettuce, signature burger sauce and pickles) as well as the more indulgent, including The Chook (Cornflake-crunch buttermilk fried chicken thigh, chilli and peanut butter, pickled cabbage and carrot and Sriracha). All can be served with an optional side of chunky chips, and the chance to top your burger of choice with additional beef patties, panko IPA jalapenos, smoked bacon, and Mexican pork.

Demand for a south Sydney outpost for 4 Pines has only continued to grow, explains Sargent, with the team pinning their hopes on finding the perfect space in Surry Hills. “Crown Street has always had a rich hospitality history and is home to a diverse and thriving local community,” he explains. “The southern end of the street has a strong community presence and we wanted to introduce a great beer bar with a simple but solid burger list – nothing fancy, just good beer and food. Plus, it will reduce the amount of hate-mail we receive for not having a 4 Pines venue this side of the bridge.”
