It's the dessert that's sure to get your heart racing.
Since making its debut appearance on Season 2 of Masterchef Australia, Adriano Zumbo’s V8 cake has become an iconic creation for the patissier. The extravagant, 8-layered cake featuring vanilla gel, dacquoise, chiffon cake, ganache, glaze, syrup and brulee was originally created to celebrate the 85th birthday of Australia’s much-loved Margaret Fulton, but has since become Zumbo’s best-seller.
What better excuse to rejuvenate the 2010 classic than for V8 Race Month this coming spring. Zumbo will up his game with 8 new flavours from the 1st of September to 9th of October, giving punters the option to vote for their favourite flavour in a poll and have it added permanently to his menu.
“I’m definitely a revhead at heart,” says Zumbo. “I’ve always had a huge interest in cars since I was young. Plus, the V8 is such an iconic Australian car. The timing was perfect with Father’s Day and the lead in to Bathurst 1000. It will be interesting to see how the 8 flavours go”.
New flavours include Cappuccino, Salted Caramel, Tropical, Cookies & Cream and Chocolate (Diesel), although Zumbo has high hopes for the Apple Pie and Strawberries and Cream editions.
