Hyde's first Australian outpost is already making waves on the Gold Coast.
Much like the vibrant hubs of Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Surfers Paradise is a smorgasbord of tall buildings, nightlife, and suitable haunts for the night owls. Recognising these parallels, one of America’s biggest hospitality groups has decided to launch Down Under, welcoming its first venue to the Gold Coast.
We’re talking about HYDE, the line of superclubs which found fame among many a celebrity and appeared more than once on much loved reality TV shows like The Hills and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Now the brand hopes to become just as famous in Australia, with the launch of Hyde Paradiso in Surfers later this month.
Set oceanfront, Hyde Paradiso is a self-described ‘playground for locals and holidaymakers’ alike. Owners SBE have launched the entertainment hub as a part of the Accor Group-owned Pepper Soul Surfers Paradise, and will be taking over the space in which the former in-house restaurant once sat.
The drinking, dining, and dancing space sounds nothing short of excessive; it’s interior has been meticulously planned by designer Carlie Milosevic, the woman behind the much-Instagrammed Hacienda Sydney. Milosevic’s penchant for mediterranean decor has again been indulged at Hyde Paradiso, which will embrace a blue, white, and peach colour scheme throughout, accented with terrazzo, mosaics, and plenty of white timber. “The design of this restaurant and lounge conjures happy holiday memories spent beachside as guests look out to 180-degree views of Surfers Paradise beach,” explains Milosevic of her vision.
But Hyde Paradiso isn’t just focused on its interiors. The entertainment space is lavish in every way, offering a dedicated Sgroppino Room, which (as you may have guessed) serves up an array of different takes on the icy drink and can be hired, alongside a private bartender for functions. A 12-metre-long bar stretches across the main space, serving up cocktails formed by Australia’s most awarded bartender Tim Philips-Johansson, which include the aforementioned Sgroppino and the Top of the Town Punch (which serves 10) as its signatures.
Accompanying these elaborate drinks is a menu focused around share-plates with a coastal theme. There’s everything from spanakopita to sumac squid on the opening menu, which has been crafted by executive chef Joel Bryant of Oskars on Burleigh fame. While fare has been inspired by Bryant’s travels around the Mediterranean, it’s been formed only from the local and seasonal produce available in the pocket of Southern Queensland. Just don’t miss out on his twist on traditional Taramosalata.
Hyde is known for its highly attentive, personalised service,” says director of nightlife SBE Frederic Frosini of Surfers’ latest addition. “After spending the last ten days in Australia on the Gold Coast and Sydney I can see a gap in the market for an experience and service led hospitality offering. Particularly in Surfers Paradise there is an opportunity for a glamorous female-friendly venue, and we are excited to open shortly and bring the Hyde brand here, it will be like nothing currently available.”
