The star of Becasse and The Bellevue is launching Saint George.

Renowned chef turned hospitality consultant James Metcalfe is moving back into the kitchen. To be precise, the former head chef of Becasse and The Bellevue will be launching a wine bar and eatery in Sydney’s Chippendale this October. Dubbed Saint Geroge, the 120-square metre eatery will be an all-day affair that offers a space to break your fast in the morning, as well as a way to wind down the day come night fall. Sitting on 822 George Street, Saint George will neighbour Central Park, and home of A1 Canteen, the burgeoning Kensington Street development.

The eatery will launch as a partnership between Metcalfe’s JRM Hospitality and +U Work Collective. The launch is actually the second instalment of the partnership, following the launch of The Drawing Room at Veriu Central earlier this year. “The Saint George project has been a number of years in the making and we’re delighted to be launching this venture in a matter of weeks!” comments Metcalfe. “Saint George has something for everyone travelling through Sydney’s CBD – the local University student seeking their morning coffee, the Sydney foodie scene and the corporate suits for an after- work beverage, snack or meal. Saint George really does cater to all ages, occasions and palettes.”

Saint George will serve contemporary casual fare, inspired in part by Metcalfe’s British background. The 45-seat restaurant will open seven days a week, from early until late.
