But don’t fear, the brunch institution isn’t going far.

Bill’s has become a part of the fabric of the Surry Hills district, having been a Crown Street resident for the past 23 years. But in a shock move, the brunch favourite has announced its relocation. Regulars to the all-day eatery need not fear however, with owner Bill Granger confirming that he will be moving just next door into the former Marque restaurant site.

“I love Surry Hills and the neighbourhood and those regulars who have joined us for breakfast, lunch and dinner for all those years.  We are thrilled to be staying in the ‘hood and moving into what is already a beautiful room,” explains the restaurateur of his decision to remain within the inner-city district.

The new space will come equipped with a revamp courtesy of architects Meacham Nockles, long-time Granger contributors. Architect Bruce Nockles promises plenty of curvaceous, honey-toned interiors, and a modern direction for the new Granger eatery. Custom-patterned terrazzo tiles, Italian glass wall lights, custom tableware, and Australian artworks will be scattered throughout. More seating will also be a part of the redesign, which will seat 94 in comparison to the current 70.

Bill’s will only shut up shop for four days to integrate the move next door, with the limited closure expected from Sunday, July 30. The doors to the new Bill’s Crown Street will be open from 7am on Friday, August 3.
