An iconic restaurant turns its attention to pastry.
To Brisbanites, Montrachet is a name synonymous with French cuisine. The much adored Gallic bistro lived in Paddington for many years, until more recently it relocated to the booming Bowen Hills. Over time the fine diner introduced a boulangerie within its walls; a casual spot in which to nibble French pastries and sweet treats prior to the more formal restaurant’s opening.
Now Montrachet’s boulangerie is ready to expand. The restaurant will shortly welcome a second pastry-only venture in the form of its first stand-alone bakery, with the existing boulangerie space set to be converted into extended dining for Montrachet.
King Street Bakery will be opening just down the road from the restaurant and is set to be a haven of all your favourite French goods, from flaky croissants to cream-laden eclairs. Baked goods will be joined with an array of heartier breakfast and lunch options down the track, but as to what exact dishes will make the cut, only time will tell.
King Street Bakery is set to open on November 18.
