A dream wine festival is coming to Surry Hills

Wet Dreams

A wine and pizza party? Count us in.

Crown Street could really be seen as one large watering hole, considering the Surry Hills main drag is awash with various coffee spots and drinking dens on both sides of the strip. Sitting front and centre is The Dolphin, The Icebergs Group’s much acclaimed (and rather lively) bar and restaurant. And while it is a popular meeting spot Monday through Sunday, the venue is now set to become even busier on Sunday June 10, as the home of Sydney’s latest wine festival.

Hosted by Joel Amos (DRNKS), James Hird, Maurice Terzini and Monty Koludovic (The Dolphin Hotel, Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta) Wet Dreams is a food and wine festival that will occur during the New South Wales’ long weekend (so there’s no need to hold back on the day). More than 30 winemakers, brewers and importers will congregate to show their wine to the masses, many for the first time. You’ll be able to try over 100 of Australia and the world’s weird and whacky in the way of wine, with tastings taking place from 1pm. Brands Ochota Barrels, Momento Mori, Brave New Wine, and Gentle Folk wine will be among those present. Rare beers and rare spirits are also set to be included.

“It’s an amazing line-up of chefs, producers, brewers with a musical back-track. It’s great to have DRNKS co-hosting and I am really excited to have so many good folks coming to party with us at the Dolphin,” says James Hird of the event. “It’s such a great opportunity to meet the people behind the wines and beers we serve.”

Of course, it’s rarely a good idea to booze on an empty stomach so The Dolphin will be hosting a pizza party from 4pm, inviting in some of Sydney’s best chefs for the day to help. There will be Luke Shannon (LP’s Quality Meats), Paul Carmichael (Momofuku Seiobo), Jovan Curic (Superior Burger), Mitch Orr (ACME) and the team from Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta.

Tickets to Wet Dreams are available for $50 and can be purchased online.
