You won't believe what Princess Margaret used as cocktail glasses

Princess Margaret

It seems a glass just didn't cut the mustard.

While it’s been well documented that the British Royal family aren’t afraid of a tipple or two, there is some debate as to who exactly takes the crown (excuse the pun) when it comes to the most proficient drinker from the lineage.

And while Queen Elizabeth II may enjoy more an impressive number of drinks per day, it seems that it’s her younger sister that proves the most seasoned drinker. Princess Margaret (as most recently depicted in the much loved tv show The Crown) was somewhat of a social butterfly in her day. The partying wasn’t limited to after dark either, with a recent anecdote at the GQ Food and Drink awards confirming that Princess Margaret was happy to get the party started anytime, anywhere.

The Guardian UK reports that it was at the magazine’s awards where chef Richard Corrigan recalled the Princess’ preference for the traditional flower vessel when it came to a drinking glass. The Royal was appalled at the tiny glasses on the Concorde when flying, in response grabbing the nearest vase, and filling it with her gin and tonic.

If that’s not a party trick, we don’t know what is.
