The world's best restaurant has a new venue en route in Old Blighty.
It may only be January, but news of one of 2019’s most anticipated openings has already arrived. Revered London hotel Claridge’s has confirmed it has a new restaurant on the way, a venue which will be manned by the duo behind one of the world’s best eateries.
Chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara, the team behind New York’s Eleven Madison Park will be welcoming their first UK-based restaurant in the form of Davies & Brook this English summer. High expectations have already been placed on the Make It Nice hospitality duo’s latest eatery, courtesy of their ample experience in the industry. After all, among their many Nomad eateries strewn throughout America, their restaurant Eleven Madison Park was voted number one by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants back in 2017.
As for Davies & Brook, the new haunt will offer fine dining British fare. Executive chef Dmitri Magi will lead a menu focused around ‘warm, inviting and engaging hospitality with delicious and beautiful cuisine.’ While dishes may have a contemporary slant, it’s promised that the eatery’s cuisine will pay homage to the historic hotel in which it sits, which has garnered the reputation as a haven for royals, dignitaries and celebrities over the years.
Understanding the immense reputation of the hotel, which was built back in the early 1880s, Humm and Guidara hope their first English offering will be a memorable one, for all the right reasons. “The history of Claridge’s and the responsibility that comes with opening a restaurant within those walls is not something we take lightly – it’s an opportunity we’re truly humbled by and we can’t wait to open our doors later this year,” explains Guidara.
