All in the name of the chef’s other eatery Esp.

To say restaurateur Scott Pickett has had a big few months would be a bit of an understatement. The Melbourne-based chef recently introduce Matilda 159 Domain into the swanky United Places development.

And now he has announced that his Northcote restaurant Estelle by Scott Pickett (ESP) will be closing his doors. It’s not all bad news however, with Pickett confirming that the closure is the result of a need to expand neighbouring Estelle Bistro into the dining space.

Saturday August 18 will be the last day of service in the restaurant, although the space will remain available to hire for functions and events until January of next year. It’s in early 2019 that renovations on the expanded Estelle Bistro will begin.

“ESP was a bit of a stepping stone to Matilda, it’s a beautiful restaurant and we’re all incredibly proud of what we have created and been delivering there,” explains Pickett of the decision. “With the recent launch of Matilda and continued success of Estelle Bistro, it makes sense to refocus and align our two Northcote restaurants into one, that locals can continue to love and support.”

ESP staff members will be also offered roles within one of four other Pickett-owned ventures; Estelle Bistro, Saint Crispin, Matilda 159 Domain or Pickett’s Deli.
