How does a luxe take on the suburban fish and chip shop sound?

One Fish

A former Fish House chef welcomes his own seafood foray to Kangaroo Point.

Of the Sunshine State’s many seafood specialty dens it’s The Fish House which may well be most famed. The Gold Coast fine diner is as renowned for its frontage on Burleigh Beach, as its vast array of fresh seafood plucked from around Australia. But soon a taste of The Fish House will be available in the big smoke of Brisbane, with one of the restaurant’s former chefs launching his own seafood restaurant One Fish Two Fish.

Nestled in to a Queenslander in Kangaroo Point, One Fish Two Fish hopes to merge the best parts of upmarket dining and the good old fashioned fish and chip shop. Inspired by his ample experience in The Fish House kitchen, owner Daniel Miletic has created a luxe take on the suburban favourite with his partner Amelia, equipped with a menu of classic fish and potato combos, as well as new forays into local seafood.

We’re talking kingfish sashimi with green nam jim dressing, coconut cream and soft herbs, and crab sliders with coleslaw and Sriracha and lime aoli. Carb-lovers rejoice for there is also a dedicated potato menu (yes you heard that right). On it you’ll find an array of shoestring fries, beer-battered chips, regular and sweet potato scallops, and a potato bake with nduja sausage.

One Fish Two Fish also hopes to tempt Brisbanites with a slew of one-off collaborations with adored chefs including Ben Williamson of Gerard’s Bistro. Regular events will accompany these pop-ups, including Crab and Cray Cray Banquets (we’re sure you can work out what to expect at this one).

One Fish Two Fish opens for business on February 15.
