Messina's Gelato Eggs are a serious upgrade on your typical Easter treat

Gelato Messina

We may have found the world's most outrageous Easter Egg.

If there was ever a time to truly indulge in everything sugar-laden it would have to be Easter. While a religious occasion to be sure, the holiday also signifies for many (particularly of the sweet tooth variety) a time in which we are encouraged to eat an excessive amount of chocolate.

And while typical Easter eggs are tasty, Gelato Messina have really kicked things up a notch this holiday with the introduction of a trio of Gelato Eggs. Dubbed The Holy Trinity, the eggs have been formed from some of the most popular flavours to grace Messina stands around the country. “This year’s eggs are a testament to our chefs, who have resurr-egg-cted our best specials and turned them into a divine collection of gelato eggs,” Messina explains.

Sold in a single pack, the trio consists of the following decadent flavours:

Holy Hot Cross Buns
A hot cross bun gelato which features chunks of house-made buns, filled with gooey dulce de leche ‘yolk’ and an outer casing of a milk chocolate glaze.

Lord Lamington
A layered concoction of coconut gelato, raspberry gel, coconut and chocolate dacquoise, and milk choc parfait, all dipped in a red chocolate glaze and desiccated coconut (of course).

Saint Pistachio
A ‘gluttonous’ Italian egg stuff with the likes of Italian nougat, chocolate honey gelato and a pistachio fudge ‘yolk’.

The Gelato Egg pack retails for $79 each and can be purchased online, and picked upacross a slew of stores in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. Limited numbers are also available at select stores.
