Dessert enthusiasts rejoice! Sydney’s largest dessert festival Sweet Street is returning for its fourth consecutive year to the Shangri-La Hotel on Friday, July 14, with an abundance of epic desserts crafted by some of Australia’s most renowned pastry chefs. Leading the charge will be the ‘punk princess of pastry’ Anna Polyviou, naturally.

Sweet Street will see the lavish Grand Ballroom of the Shangri-La transformed into a sugar-laden wonderland, complete with graffiti artists, magicians and DJs. But the real drawcard will be the sweet and savoury food stalls that will line the venue, featuring creations from LuxBite, Knafeh Bakery, Textbook Patisserie, Andy Bowdy with Pie Country, Cow and the Moon, Butter, Thievery, The Scran Line and Zeus Street Greek all making an appearance.

Polyviou, who was named Gault & Millau’s ‘Pastry Chef of the Year’ in 2016 and has become a household name thanks to MasterChef Australia, is excited about the event’s return. “Sweet Street is going to be huge with amazing desserts by all my friends,” she said. “It’s where food festival fanatics can eat, drink and enjoy the show”.

Friday’s festival will also offer a stage for Polyviou to debut two new desserts – The Choux Burger PB&B, which combines golden choux, peanut cremeux, raspberry jelly and bliss bomb popcorn, and the Choux Burger Tropic-Anna, featuring golden choux, coconut Malibu crème, tropical gel and sesame seed crunch.

Sound too sweet to miss? Tickets to Sweet Street are $85 per person and include eight tokens to redeem at any stall. VIP tickets are also available, with $125 securing you early entry, a cocktail on arrival and Polyviou’s out-of-this-world MasterChef Australia dessert,  the Firecracker.
