Jessi Singh takes over Colin Fassnidge's former venue with Don't Tell Aunty.
Jessi Singh may have only been back in Australia for a few weeks but the restaurateur is already making waves in the local dining scene. Shortly after the confirmation of a return and revamp to his original Melbourne eatery Horn Please, Singh has confirmed the launch of his first Sydney venue.
Singh’s signature ‘unauthentic Indian’ will be making its way to the harbour city, setting up shop in the former premises of Colin Fassnidge’s 4Fourteen in Surry Hills. Fassnidge’s restaurant has confirmed closure on August 25 with plans to reopen in October in the form of Singh’s Don’t Tell Aunty.
The open plan restaurant is promised to be an entirely new concept for Singh, but will maintain the cheeky attitude and twist on traditional Indian for which he has a reputation. Rajat Parr will be taking over the beverage program, designing a wine list that also integrates plenty of gin and mezcal.
“It’s an honour to be following the 4Fourteen legacy,” says Singh. “I’m really excited to be joining the dynamic and vibrant Sydney hospitality scene. It’s been a longtime dream. Let the good times roll!”
