Prepare to spiral into a 2002-shaped hole as Handpicked Wines announce Buttered: Aussie Chard Fest. Inspired by Australian icons Kath and Kim, the festival is a celebration of all things chardonnay (read: card-onnay). 

Taking place at Handpicked’s cellar door in Chippendale, this one-off event is being held on the 22nd of October from 6-8pm. Fans of the white grape will learn why chardonnay is the OG drop and hear from a lineup of legendary producers including Giant Steps, Oakridge, Tyrell’s, Handpicked and Savaterre. 

While Australia’s purveyor of fine meats himself won’t be there, snags will be taken care of by Vic’s Meats with an epic sausage sizzle. Cheese will be supplied by Handpicked’s own cellar door (no Babybel cheeses here) with an iced vovo or two to sweeten the deal. 

There’s also prizes for the best-dressed hornbags, so we suggest digging out the athleisure and g-bangers if you want a chance at winning. Up for grabs is a private wine tasting for four with a sommelier at the Handpicked Cellar Door. 

If ever an event called for BBQ shapes and a bottle of Baileys, this would be it. If it’s good enough for the foxy ladies in Fountain Lakes, it’s good enough for us. Dress tizzy and we’ll see you there.
