Pastry fanatics will be all too familiar with Lune. The baby of former aerodynamic engineer Kate Reid, Lune has proven to be one of Australia’s favourites when it comes to croissants, crafting delectable takes on flakey pastry from an industrially chic outpost in Fitzroy.
But now, aside from a smattering of cafes spread throughout Melbourne, Lune pastries will also be available in the CBD. Russell Street’s historic T&G Building is set to become home to the tasty delights, with a new shop opening next week opposite the city’s Grand Hyatt.
Again the new space will omit the same industrial tones of its headquarters with plenty of concrete and glass, and few furnishings. The raw pastry will still be made in headquarters, meaning that customers won’t be able to enjoy watching the process unfold like they can in Fitzroy, but it will be baked on site.
5 options will sit on the CBD menu which will be a shortlist of Lune classics; the plain croissant, pain au chocolate, an almond, ham and gruyere and an interchanging cruffin.
