Marco Pierre White’s dining app launches in Sydney

Marco Pierre White

The celebrity chef proves he is as savvy with tech as he is in the kitchen.

‘Be the change you want to see in the world’ or so goes the old adage. And it’s one that celebrity chef Marco Pierre White is obviously a fan of. The much-revered foodie is also talented when it comes to tech it turns out, having launched his own dining app, EatClub.

As it describes of itself, “EatClub hopes to enhance the vibrancy of the food culture in every city it operates in. While the technology trend in the restaurant industry is driving customers away from dining out, EatClub aims to bring them back. We want to see more people eating out more often.” Essentially it’s an app that locates the restaurants around you with spare tables who have last minute deals on offer to entice diners, making its money by charging a pre-dinner fee per customer. And now the app is in Australia.

Since launching in Melbourne in October last year, there have been around 300 restaurants involved. And now the app has landed north in Sydney. In the week since its launch there have been more than 10,000 Sydney locals who have downloaded the EatClub app, awarding them with special offers at local eateries including Ze Pickle, Small Bar and Chur Burger.

A chance to help support the burgeoning Sydney restaurant scene while enjoying a discount or two in the process? We’ll take it.
