And still be home by 9pm.
New Year’s Eve can be a bit more challenging when you have children in tow but that doesn’t have to mean holding hands and singing Auld Lang Syne at home.
Those looking to kick off their shoes this December 31 – whether they be strappy heels or baby booties – can head to Mary’s Underground, where Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham are hosting two NYE parties, including one that’s family-friendly.
The first of the two sittings will run from 5:30pm-8:30pm, making it the perfect time slot for young’uns, as well as anyone who loves an early night (raises hand) or has a second party planned for later.
The evening will include an indulgent feast for adults (think oysters, rotisserie duck and a mezcal-flamed bombe Alaska) as well as a special menu for kids, made up of fairy bread, Mary’s cheeseburgers and loaded ice cream sundaes.

Entertainment on the night will include jazzy tunes by the Underground Brass Band, while those who wish to see the fireworks at Sydney Harbour are just a 2-minute walk away.
Mary’s Underground co-owner, Jake Smyth said: “When we realised we could throw a dinner party, literally one block from the fireworks at Circular Quay, our heads exploded. We have split the night into two, based around the different fireworks – with a family sitting to finish in time for the 9pm fireworks, then an old fashioned knees up dinner party, with our guests able to pop out to see the fireworks and return to [the] safety of the Underground to keep the party going to the morning! Add our Underground Brass Band, DJ’s and dancers and we gonna be blowing the door down on 2020!”
The NYE Family Package will run from 5.30pm-8.30pm at a price of $150 for adults, $80 for teens (12-17 years), $40 for kids (aged 12 and under), with the option of matching wines for $70. For the late-night revellers, there’s the Fireworks Fest which runs from 9pm-12am at a price of $300 with matching wines for $80.
