The Eagle Street Pier fine diner is going out with a bang after 10 incredible years of service. Words by Mariam Digges.
Matt Moran’s fine-dining crown jewel Aria will open for its final service on Saturday 15 June before closing its doors for good, according to a statement from Solotel group. The closure coincides with the restaurant’s Eagle Street Pier lease coming to an end.
The news follows on the heels of other prominent restaurant closures in the city in recent years with Esq, Esquire, Fortitude Valley’s Madame Rouge and Margo in Paddington all calling it quits.
Moran thanked his staff and patrons for their support over the last decade in a press release. The Aria co-owner said, “All good things come to an end and the end of the current lease seems like the perfect time for us to go out on top in Brisbane.”
The upscale mod-Australian restaurant will be going out with a bang, plating up iconic dishes from the past 10 years in a special 10-course tasting menu. Diners can expect much-loved plates such as the scampi from their 2009 menu, the confit pork belly and Aria’s legendary banoffee with banana and caramel.
Solotel CEO Justine Baker said the closure was in line with the fluctuating hospitality scene across Brisbane and Sydney.
“The exciting part of hospitality is that it is such a dynamic industry and we can never stand still and rest on our laurels. We will continue to innovate to bring the best of dining and entertainment to our guests.”
