All a part of the annual city’s Food and Wine Festival.

Who doesn’t love a long lunch!? Well, the longest of its kind is about to hit laneway capital Melbourne. The event is one of the key events at the annual Melbourne Food and Wine Festival which will be hosted by the southern city between March 16 and 25 of 2018.

The World’s Longest Lunch is a literal take on the much loved weekend activity. Taking place on Friday March 16, the event will be leaving the CBD for the first time since 1992 and moving to the banks of the Maribyrnong River in celebration of the Footscray district. 1700 diners will be sat around a 500-metre long table to indulge in three courses prepared by a team of talented chefs. Expect the cooking skills of Adam D’Sylva (Adam D’Sylva (Tonka, Coda) and Jerry Mai (Annam, Pho Nom), bringing together their Indian, Italian, Vietnamese and Cambodian roots into a modern-Australian feast. Pastry Chef Kay-Lene Tan (Tonka, Coda) has been charged with dessert.

The festival’s other stand out? The House of Food and Wine. Coming courtesy of Matt Stone and Jo Barrett, the event is a foodie’s dream. The talented chef duo have been charged with an edible takeover of the venue – directing everything from the mini bar to the breakfast menu.

More than 250,000 are expected to descend on the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival itself, which for next year will be celebrating the theme of community. More information on the event, including the full festival program, can be found online.
