The day of the takeaway pizza is dead, it seems.
In an age where convenience is everything, it’s no surprise that meal delivery options like UberEATS are proving such a formidable force. But exactly what dishes prove most popular when it comes to at-home dining may shock you.
This year, as a part of the delicious. 100 list, delicious. teamed up with UberEATS to celebrate the ‘Best of Home Delivery’. The top five meal delivery options in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have been decreed, with the finalists in each city revealing that takeaway trends are certainly changing from the traditional. The ruler of 2017? All things ‘entertaining’.
Our results show that burgers and pizzas still obviously have a place at the heart of home delivery, with six of the top 15 eateries serving up pizza, pasta and burgers. But the entertainment factor is proving a strong influence, with Milk the Cow – a licensed fromagerie – landing a top five position with Melburnians. Famed for its cheeseboards, the venue is clearly a firm favourite for a party platter when you’re pressed for time. French bistro Entrecote also nabbed a top five position in the Melbourne list. Its steak tartare and saumon fumé are easy and impressive entrée options for home diners.
Entertaining friends and family isn’t just a passion in the southern state, with Brisbane’s Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers making the Sunshine State’s top five. The Italian venue’s Party Packs and People’s Choice selections have proven most in demand with UberEATS fans.
Share dishes also reigned supreme around the nation, with Hellenic Republic scoring a top five place in Melbourne and The Thievery making the same cut Sydney-side. Both restaurants focus on plates to feed a crowd, with easy feasting options (such as dips and platters) the most sought after.
It seems the rise in entertaining at home doesn’t have to see you slaving away over the stove; instead, you can spend the time mingling while somebody else organises your feast for you.
