The Oaks in Neutral Bay is undergoing the biggest upgrade in its 133 year history

Just wait till you see what’s coming.

North Sydney’s iconic institution, The Oaks Hotel is set to undergo the biggest revamp in its longstanding history. Joining the ever-expanding Thomas Hotel Group, the venue will launch three new offerings, including a retro sports bar, garden conservatory and craft bottle shop. While all under the same roof, each offering will be distinctly different and comes with its own food and beverage menu.

First up is a rebellious new sports bar named Taffy’s, which will be kitted out with retro games and pop culture novelties. Expect to see a Hulk Hogan novelty beer tap, a life-size cutout of Richie Benaud and the largest foosball table in NSW. Tuck into hearty, pub-style eats like duck nachos with fried wontons and Reuben sandwich spring rolls.

Over at Alala’s, enjoy an elegant Parisian patio setting, shaded by the iconic oak tree. Serving up a picnic-style menu, dishes are inspired by the forest glade and include homemade tartines and open-style sandwiches. Drinks will include seasonal cocktails mixed with fresh produce and garnishes.

The Oaks Bottle Shop and Takeaway is set to be your one-stop shop for beer and bites. A communal tasting table invites guests to ‘try before you buy’ with an onsite beer sommelier. Drawing inspiration from the nostalgic 1940’s milk bars, shoppers will be greeted with the smell of warm bread from the cast iron oven upon arrival. For those feeling especially peckish, grab a hot roast roll drenched in gravy from the rotisserie, from midday till 1am.

Taffy’s is slated to open in September, followed by Alala’s and the Oaks Bottle Shop and Takeaway in October.
