Chocoholics take note.
Sydney’s sweet cravings have been satiated in recent times by KOI Dessert Bar. Having now successfully stolen the hearts of New South Welshman, the specialty sweet treat space, alongside sister venue Monkey’s Corner, has now set Melbourne in its sights with a move down south imminent.
The duo of venues – both owned by the Poernomo brothers – will be settling in Melbourne temporarily as a part of the new HWKR Food Centre. It’s the city’s first futuristic South East Asian inspired food centre that will launch on February 8. Stalls within are expected to rotate regularly, with an interchanging lineup of venues presented by local, interstate and international chef talent.
HWKR Food Centre will sit on the ground floor of the award-winning EQ tower in the Melbourne CBD. It’s a food court that is unlike any other in the country so far – think digital signage, neon lights, cashless transactions, and ordering via apps (including WeChat)
KOI Dessert Bar and Monkey’s Corner founder Reynold Poernomo (of MasterChef fame) will establish and manage the HWKR outpost for the first few weeks to make sure that the venues are an authentic replica of the originals. If you want to try either of the stalls’ offerings for yourself, make sure you drop in before their departure at the end of April.
