'Enchantress' will set you back €65.
Easter is without a doubt a time for unabashed decadence, but at what price? The Peninsula Paris, one of the city’s most luxe establishments, has just unveiled its lavish take on the Easter Egg, a treat with a name just as outrageous as its price tag. Dubbed the Enchantress, the decadent concoction of hand-sculpted chocolate will set you back a pretty penny – it’s currently priced at €65 (or $AUD100).
Created by Peninsula Paris head pastry chef, Dominique Costa, Enchantress has been described as a poetic interpretation of a diabolo toy. “It’s a real invitation to indulge,” explains the Peninsula of its limited-edition dessert.

As to what it’s made of, the egg itself is crafted from Valrhona signature chocolate, which has been specially created for the hotel – think a 70% cocoa and a touch of citrus and Timut pepper. Inside the egg’s shell sits an array of gourmet pralines moulded into traditional Easter shapes of fish and shellfish. The outer casing is just as lavish – decorated with edible golden leaves in ode to the hotel’s famed crystal chandelier – and accompanied by chopsticks found in the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant LiLi.
All things considered, it’s not hard to see why the Easter Egg costs an arm and a leg. Should you wish to purchase one for yourself, the Enchantress Easter Egg is available to order from April 8 to 22 at the Peninsula’s Le Lobby restaurant.
