There’s nothing quite like food when it comes to bringing people together. Just take a look at #Cookforsyria for example, the global fundraising initiative that is helping to aid the Syrian crisis through the power of a shared meal.

The month-long campaign kicks off shortly in Sydney and Melbourne, with the intent of helping aid those involved in the Syrian crisis. Some of the nation’s top foodie destination will be playing their part, serving signature dishes with a Syrian twist. $3 from the sale of these dishes will be donated to the UNICEF Australia’s Syrian Crisis Appeal, meaning you return home after dinner not only with a full belly, but a full heart.

To kick off the campaign, a sell-out dinner was held at Three Blue Ducks in Sydney which saw the likes of Kylie Kwong, Peter Gilmore, Andy Allen, Mark LaBrooy, Darren Robertson, Mitch Orr and Clayton Wells (among more) join forces for a Syrian-inspired dinner.

The Sydney event saw $30,000 raised, which is exactly what Melbourne will try to match (if not better) when it hosts its own on Monday, March 6 at The Point in Albert Park. Limited tickets are still available online to the evening that will see the likes of David Moyle, Karen Martini, Frank Camorra and Victor Liong, band together for a good cause.
