The world's most luxurious ingredient is on the move.
Travelling up the Australian coast with a caravan filled with caviar might sound like a crazy idea, but it’s exactly what Yarra Valley Caviar is planning to do as part of the Noosa Food and Wine Festival.
Once the stuff of Russian oligarchs and royalty, caviar is seeing a surge in popularity in Australia, thanks to the rise in sustainably raised and harvested practices. From restaurants (not all fine dining) to casual dinner parties, more and more people are embracing the now accessible luxurious product, so much so that Yarra Valley Caviar will be driving a caravan of its goods from its aquaculture farm at the base of Victoria’s Rubicon River to the Sunshine Coast.

During the festival, the Caravan of Caviar, as it’s been dubbed, will offer visitors the option of salmon rillette sliders adorned with triple-smoked salmon pearls, or tasting plates of black caviar, salmon roe, trout roe and smoked salmon pearls served with rosti and whipped Pepe Saya creme fraiche.
For true caviar lovers, Yarra Valley Caviar will also be hosting its own caviar masterclass in collaboration with Rossini Caviar. Led by Yarra Valley Caviar’s Nicholas Gorman and Natalie Traversa, the masterclass will allow ticket holders to partake in a vertical tasting of the five different caviar styles, paired with sparkling wine, for $20 (valued at $200).

And for those who just can’t get enough, festivalgoers can buy caviar from Caravan of Caviar to take home.
The Yarra Valley and Rossini Caviar Masterclass is from 1.30pm till 2.10 pm on Sunday, May 20 and tickets can be purchased here. For more on the Noosa Food and Wine Festival, see here.
