It's another win for the Gold Coast.

Sydney has lost another rising star today with the confirmation that chef Alex Munoz Labart will open his first venue, Restaurant Labart, in Queensland’s Burleigh Heads this July.

The 60-seat restaurant will focus on championing sustainability and seasonability with its open kitchen and charcoal grill. The menu will feature a number of snacks, small plates and large plates giving diners the option to either share or choose dishes themselves. Adding to the appeal, local ceramicist Marloe Marloe has also been commissioned to produce bespoke tableware for the new venture.

Labart, who counts time at both Marque and Est. under his belt, says the whole purpose of the venue will be to make people happy.

“We want to do away with the idea that delicious food needs to be served with stuffiness and formality,” Labart says. “Service at Restaurant Labart will be carefully considered, yet effortless in its delivery – I want our guests to enjoy the experience, as much as they do the food. For me, one is as important as the other.”

Restaurant Labart is expected to open this coming July.
