If you love Australiana, you'll adore The Unicorn Hotel's new series

Sarah Blasko

And singer Sarah Blasko is leading the charge.

Australians all let us rejoice for we are young and free. And to top it all off, we’re home to a growing number of eateries eager to celebrate the nation’s edible flora and fauna.
In Sydney’s Paddington, The Unicorn Hotel is one such Australian fare fan. The self-proclaimed “proud boiling billy of Aussie wine, beer, music, art, food and conversation” is so passionate about the nation’s cuisine that it is home to an annual events series which celebrates Australian food in all its forms.
Titled the My Australia Series, The Unicorn’s passion project has just confirmed that it will be back in 2019 with its sixth event. Former years have seen some of the country’s best chefs (including 10 William’s Enrico Tomelleri and Smith + Daughter’s Shannon Martinez) curate a lunch for the public that represents what Aussie cuisine means to them.

But this year’s festivities have taken a different turn, with the 2019 My Australia Series not just turning to leading chefs for inspiration, but leading creatives. Singer Sarah Blasko has been tasked with the first event of the series, landing on February 3.
Blasko will not only be performing acoustic versions of her hits, but will also be present for a chat and a feed, having promised a menu inspired by the food that best resonates with her Australian identity. Partnering with Blasko for the occasion will be wine producer Taras Ochota, who has individually paired his Ochota Barrels vino with each new course.
The Sarah Blasko x My Australia Series will be taking place on Sunday, February 3 at The Unicorn Hotel. Tickets to the event are available online, with a portion of those sold to be donated to Asylum Seeker-focused charity ASRC.
