Brisbane set to welcome a fine diner from Sepia alumni

Bakery Lane

Though rather unassuming at first glance, Bakery Lane in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley is a hive of edible activity. The collection of boutiques, restaurants, and cafes continues to welcome new tenants; its latest addition a fine diner from a duo of former Sydney hospitality veterans.

10-seat eatery Joy Restaurant will open early 2019, a petite dining venture from Tim and Sarah Scott. The team are no strangers to the hospitality scene, having experience working at some of Sydney’s top venues, Sepia, Automata and Sixpenny included.

But their Brisbane venture will mark a decidedly new direction from those expansive fine dining eateries. Joy Restaurant is intentionally small, with the focus being on intimacy between both diners and the kitchen. The Scott’s roles will be hands-on with the team at present confirming they will be doing everything themselves, including fare which merges Japanese and Scandinavian dishes with Australian ingredients.

Joy Restaurant is expected to join Bakery Lane in February of next year.
