Does this mean the celebrity chef is moving into music for good?
Shannon Bennett may already be at the helm of one of Australia’s best restaurants, but the talented chef has turned his efforts away from Melbourne’s fine dining scene and toward’s the city live music offering with his most recent purchase. Specifically Bennett will be opening a performance venue called Geddes Ballroom.
He recently purchased the former Grain Store that housed Bar 20 and has spent the past few months refurbishing before its reopening. Of course there will be a food offering (it being Bennett’s venue) with one of burger joint Benny Burger planned to neighbour the new space. “@vuegroup@123agencygroup we have taken over the old #grainstore also formally known as #bar20 we have shut the front door a few months ago and about to reopen as an old school live music venue,” Bennett explained to his Instagram followers. “The back door will become the front door and the laneway will become home to another @bennyburgerofficial as a venue called #geddesballroom will evolve from dream to reality.”
Bennett went on to confirm that Geddes Ballroom will open on October 11. The purchase has been made in part to contribute to the CBD’s King Street. “Thank you Lorenz Grollo and his team for the opportunity and we are excited to help clean up King street and #makeitsafe#melbourne #livemusicmelbourne#bennyburgerwell” continued Bennett in his post.
While little else is known of Bennett’s budding career in the music biz, we’d suggest you watch this space.
