New owners and a new chef for the Eastern suburbs favourite.
After two years of ownership, Solotel Group have confirmed that their Eastern suburbs favourite Clovelly Hotel has changed hands. Matt Moran’s hospitality group handed the coastal drinking den back to its original owners yesterday.
Director of the Solotel Group Bruce Solomon says that the decision was a part of plans to consolidate the group’s current portfolio. “Solotel have made a strategic decision to rebalance our portfolio for future growth,” he commented. “This means we are unfortunately saying goodbye to the Cloey locals, who were a pleasure to serve over the past two years.”
John Preston, a representative of the new (and past) owners says that regulars can expect the Cloey to continue to operate as usual. “We understand the importance of the Cloey to the local community. We are looking forward to our first class team taking over the Hotel and the best times are ahead,” he said.
Along with new owners, The Clovelly now comes with a new chef. Brad Sloane, the former executive chef of Verandah Bar and the Greenwood Hotel, has confirmed that he will be taking over the kitchen.
