Stockade Brew Co will open its doors in Marrickville.
A drinking den designed for the beer fan has hit Sydney’s inner-west with independent craft beer producers Stockade Brew Co becoming the district’s latest resident.
Sitting amidst an industrial strip is the Art Deco-inspired space which hosts brewery, bar and dining room, as well as an intimate taste room. The venue was designed by RAD Studios, and results in a space abundant in terracotta tiles and blackbutt wood furniture.
But more importantly, onto the beer. Stockade Brew Co offers a core line-up of five ‘session’ beers with a series of limited edition drops, all created in-house by head brewer Daniel Fardon. Perhaps most famous is The Mountie; a maple syrup-infused imperial stout. There’s also a number of revolving guest taps, including Randall’s Bucket Boys, and 3 Ravens Brewing.

Stockade doesn’t just cater to the beer fanatic. Creator Anton Szpitalak. explains, “beer is our bread and butter at Stockade – it’s what we know and love best, so we wanted to create a venue that is not only serves our beers but celebrates beer on a wider level. We’re working with a number of local independent brands and bringing their expertise in-house to deliver food, wine and cocktails that celebrate hops.”
That includes an ample selection of both cocktails and wine to accompany the beer selection. Of course it being a brewery, the six seasonal cocktails are each inspired by the flavours of hops. The brewery’s take on a G&T (or as it’s dubbed G’n’T for Galaxy & Tonic) plays up the bitter passionfruit flavours of the Galaxy hops which it contains. Barrel-aged wines, blended on-site with Urban Winery Projects, round out the drinks list.
Fare is focused on the casual as well as variety, with a monthly changing line-up of collaborations confirmed. Baby Rey’s will be on hand for the brewery’s opening month; burger specialists best known for their Wild West Burger. To follow, pan-Asian BBQ truck Tzuru will take over in August, followed by Grease’n’Grind burgers in September, and La Raza Mexican Cantina in October.
