Sweet tooths be warned, dessert hummus just landed

Just when you thought you couldn't love hummus more...

It’s the news that hummus fan clubs around the world have been waiting to hear, so sit yourself down, close that typical tub of hummus and listen up.

US nutritionist and founder of Delighted By Hummus, Makenzie Mazluff, has reignited a love for chickpeas with a range of dessert hummus creations. You read that right – sweet hummus. The product is currently available in four flavours, Choc-O-Mint, Snickerdoodle, Vanilla Bean and Brownie Batter, and has been likened to a guilt-free cookie dough.

After appearing on US Shark Tank last year with her concept, Makenzie saw more than half a million dollars invested into her business plan. The vegan, gluten/soy/nut free products are sweetened naturally with either raw turbinado (unprocessed sugar obtained pressings of sugar cane) or coconut sugar. Spread it on toast, use as a dip for fresh fruit, add it to a smoothie or just eat it straight from the tub.

If you didn’t already have enough of a reason to eat hummus, chickpeas are known for their high levels of protein, iron and B vitamins, making these desserts practically healthy.

The bad news – unfortunately the products are not currently available in Australia, but we have high hopes that it will reach our shores soon.
