Bid bonjour to a weekend full of dairy.
Many consider France to be the undisputed home of cheese. But there is a way to explore the French world of fromage without the effort of getting on the next plane bound for Europe. How exactly? Through new cheese festival Bon Fromage.
As its name suggests, the festival is a celebration of French cheese. The two-day event will be presented by the Centre National Interprofessionel de l’Economie Laitiere (CNIEL) in support of the European Union.
Bon Fromage lands in Sydney’s Carriageworks on October 14. It will offer the 6,000 expected members of the public attending a series of masterclasses and demonstrations, as well as half a tonne of cheese to taste across the myriad of different stalls expected. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, the free entry and accompanying wine bar will.
To top things off Bon Fromage has also announced an ambassador in the form of French cheesemonger Xavier Thuret. “I am so passionate about cheese and working with quality European cheeses. I am looking forward to coming to Sydney for Bon Fromage, and sharing my knowledge and experience of the history and culture of European cheese and gastronomy,” he says. “I enjoy creating cheeseboards and gourmet displays that are as magnificent as they are surprising, so I’m excited to bring these skills to Bon Fromage.”
