Sydney’s annual chilli festival is set to return in a blaze of glory

The Sydney Chilli Festival returns.
The Sydney Chilli Festival returns.

There will be 30 chilli-themed vendors and a milk station.

The hottest event of the year is returning for round two, with the Sydney Chilli Festival bringing the heat to Parramatta’s Albion Hotel this Saturday, September 8.

Over 30 chilli-themed vendors and food trucks will take to the Albion’s outdoor carpark with their stash of spice, selling fiery foods from hot sauce to chilli jams, chutneys and seasonings.

There will also be three licensed bars on-site, with offerings like Matso’s chilli beer and chilli-spiked cocktails, as well as chilli mochas with chilli marshmallows for the non-drinkers.

If you end up taking things a little too far, head to the dedicated milk station or the Mr Whippy van, which will be offering emergency cooldowns by way of vanilla ice cream.

If you consider yourself a pro with the peppers, you’ll also be able to take part in a chilli-chocolate eating competition, as long as you’re prepared to sign the death waiver first.

Entry is by gold coin donation, with funds raised going to drought-affected farmers through Buy A Bale. For more details, head to facebook.com/SydneyChilliFest.
