Wine lovers rejoice!
April 17th marks the annual Malbec World Day, a day where lovers of one of the world’s most popular red wine styles come together to celebrate. Whilst the Malbec varietal originated in the Mediterranean climate of Cahors in South West France, this day is to celebrate when Argentinians transformed their wine industry, bringing many varietals, including Malbec, to the South American country. Today, Argentine Malbec is recognised as one of the countries best wines and exports.
To celebrate Malbec World Day this year, Sydney’s Chophouse is hosting a weeklong celebration of this bold red wine, culminating in a Taste of South America dinner on the evening of April 17th. The three-course dinner has been chosen by Head Chef, Scott Kim to showcase the art of Argentinian wine-making and it’s ability to pair well with food.

Diners on the night can expect to start their meal with deviled eggs and empanadas before moving on to mains such as slow-roasted rib back and char-grilled skirt steak with pebre, a traditional Chilean condiment.
For the entire week of April 16th-20th, patrons can also enjoy a wine list with an additional four Malbec wines available by the glass, including an Australian take on the classic blend. There will also be South American-inspired specials available in the bar and terrace areas for after-work drinks and snacks from 4pm-6pm daily.
The ‘Taste of South America’ dinner starts from 6 pm, April 17th and is $85 per person food only, or $140 per person for matching wines.
